The call comes. They say good news. You are genuinely
excited. Truly could not be happier. Halfway through the conversation
and the feelings and thoughts find their way through your happiness, love and
reception of this news to interrupt with this: why is my life not like that?
Life changes are great. Engagements. Moves. School.
Trips. Babies. What about the daily living? What happens after she says yes,
the boxes are unloaded, the papers roll in, the flight home and the baby is
sleeping in the crib?
Life. The daily life living that appears lackluster and mundane
at times. Nothing is wrong with the daily living, but it comes in a less shiny
and attractive package than others. It begins to feel ordinary rather than
extraordinary. And we begin to question the calling God has put on our life and
if we heard right, as if there were such a thing.
“Therefore, I the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk
in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called with all
humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in
love being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:1-3
God’s taking the days and weaving them together. It looks
like a mess right now, like the back of a tapestry. The details are fuzzy and
the end product is far from sight. But He has a plan. He has the end goal in
mind and He will let you see it. Trust the process, the daily living. Those
days are being woven together to make your life as He created it to be.
